Trelawny on the Mercy Ships

Friday 9 October 2009, 08:00

Trelawny were pleased recently to be in a position where they would again assist with equipment to help a very worthy cause. A low vibration challenger needle scaler was supplied along with a package of spare parts and accessories for rust & scale removal onboard a vessel called the ‘Africa Mercy’ on behalf of Mercy Ships.

Mercy Ships evolved in 1978 to provide free urgent medical procedures and community development services to the world’s forgotten poor using hospital ships.

Manned by volunteers the crews bring with them skills and expertise such as surgeons, doctors, nurses, engineers, catering and cleaning: not only do they volunteer they also raise their own funds to serve through sponsorship.

To many thousands of people Mercy Ships represents the difference between life and death.

The Africa Mercy has just completed an 18 months tour of duty in Liberia and is now engaged for 10 months in Benin, West Africa.

Steve Cook procurement manager said: ‘Thank you for donating the needle scaler to Mercy Ships. Your support will help us to make a lasting difference to thousands of people in Africa who so desperately need our help.

Thank you again for supporting Mercy Ships & for helping us to bring hope and healing to the forgotten people of West Africa.’

Trelawny wish Mercy Ships continued success in their support of the less fortunate. Further details of the work Mercy Ships carry out can be found on www.mercyships.org.uk/mercy-ships-uk
